The fifth year Student Council have registered Scoil Mhuire to take part in the UNICEF Rights Respecting Schools Award. The aim of the Award is to ensure all members of the school community are aware of the rights of the Child and to ensure that we embed The United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child, which has just celebrated its 30th anniversary.

Scoil Mhuire Cork believe that the every right of a child must be respected and feel strongly that Scoil Mhuire can commit to ensuring this goal is met in school.

Over the coming months, the fifth year Council, acting as a steering committee, will liaise with 2nd and 3rd year Student Council Reps, who will then ask members of the school community to participate in surveys to assess the current level of awareness that we, as a school, have about this charter.

We are hoping to achieve the Bronze Level of this award this year, before aiming for Silver and then Gold.

We look forward to sharing updates on our progress with you and hope that you will support this very relevant body of work.
