Transition Year is more than just the bridge between Junior Certificate and Leaving Certificate. It is a real and significant period in a Scoil Mhuire girls learning and personal development. A Scoil Mhuire student in Transition Year becomes that very person we set out in our mission statement. They strive to become fully “prepared for their role as autonomous, participative and responsible members of society.”
Scoil Mhuire has been achieving this since ever since Transition Year was first introduced into the school programme over 20 years ago. It is safe to say Scoil Mhuire has one of the best Transition year programmes in the country.
Normal academic subjects are still catered for. These include English, Irish, Maths, French, German, Italian, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, History, Social and Scientific, Music, Geography, Business, Art, Singing.
Students participate in a number of modules. These range from Flower Arranging, ICT, Drama, Outdoor Pursuits, Computer Coding, Life Skills, Cookery, Art Appreciation, Driving Theory and many more.
